Export your data

Your notes are yours. Export is on every plan, including the free one — leaving is never a paid feature.

A single page

Open the page and choose Export as Markdown. You get a .md file: plain text that opens in any editor, now and in ten years.

Your whole workspace

From the sidebar choose Export workspace. You get a zip containing every page as Markdown, with the folder structure mirroring your page hierarchy. Archived pages are left out; everything else comes along.

What Markdown keeps

KeptHeadings, paragraphs, lists, checklists, quotes, code blocks, tables, dividers, links between pages
ChangedPage links become relative Markdown links. Emoji icons and covers are page decoration and are not part of the text.

Why it works this way

Markdown is readable without any particular tool. An export you cannot open is not really an export, so we chose the format that survives us — rather than one that only makes sense inside FolianX.

Attachments

Files attached to pages are downloaded individually from the page or the Files browser. They are stored as you uploaded them, so what you get back is byte-for-byte what you put in.

Leaving

Export first, then delete your account from Settings. Deleting removes your pages and files. Take the export before you do — we cannot recover a deleted workspace.
