Export your data
Your notes are yours. Export is on every plan, including the free one — leaving is never a paid feature.
A single page
Open the page and choose Export as Markdown. You get a .md file: plain text that opens in any editor, now and in ten years.
Your whole workspace
From the sidebar choose Export workspace. The zip contains the non-archived pages you can access, as Markdown in folders matching their hierarchy. Images and attachments are not bundled; download those files separately before deleting an account.
What Markdown keeps
| Kept | Headings, paragraphs, lists, checklists, quotes, code blocks, tables, dividers, links between pages |
|---|---|
| Changed | Page links remain readable as [[wikilinks]]. Page icons appear in the heading. Covers are not included; embedded images remain URL references rather than bundled files. |
Why it works this way
Markdown is readable without any particular tool. An export you cannot open is not really an export, so we chose the format that will outlive us.
Attachments
Files attached to pages are downloaded individually from the page or the Files browser. They are stored as you uploaded them, so what you get back is byte-for-byte what you put in.
Leaving
Export your pages and download your files before deleting an account. Shared teamspace pages may be reassigned to a remaining member. Copies already downloaded or retrieved by an external assistant are not erased by account deletion.
